All kids need is a little help, a little hope and somebody who believes in them

Haven’t we have all experienced miracles hidden in the lap of belief? Yes, we have. We have all heard endless stories about how belief has changed and continues to change lives. Unconditional positive regard, discipline and a state of happiness are the underlying principles followed diligently at Mount Olympus, Gurgaon.

Believing in students is not simply  telling them that we believe in them. These words matter only if they are true and if we demonstrate them by our actions and that is exactly what we try to do at Mount Olympus. Not every child can meet the unrealistic goals of a test focused curriculum but every child can try to do his or her best.

100% participation is our rule in our plethora of extracurricular activities ranging from morning assemblies, short plays, compering shows, club activities, weekly subject enrichment sessions, art, dance, sports, competitions etc. We encourage ‘Effort’ more than ‘Achievement’. We see our students transform from the shy, diffident, nervous and timid student to cheerful, confident, self-assured and buoyant individuals ready to take challenges in their stride.

Weekly Subject Enrichment Activities – includes well planned topics and avenues to explore a subject through various forms i.e. research art, music, drama etc. It allow us to take our curriculum ‘Beyond classrooms.’ It helps our learners to gain knowledge on a subject from the live world around them. It helps our learners to experience what they learn and learn what they experience. It encourages our learners to explore through research.

Outbound trips and excursions help our learners to explore their inner self, discover their strengths and areas of improvement, builds sense of independence, confidence, self-esteem, social skills, team work, coordination and cooperation.

Life skills and value education finds a unique place in our curriculum. We believe that values are not taught but caught. Innovative sessions and practical experiences make our learners get ready for future.

Guidance & Counseling unit at Mount Olympus gives space and a patient ear to all out learners. It aims at prevention through several awareness building programs for parents, teachers and our students. It also works to provide special need based assistance to our learners whenever required.

Our exams are followed by self-assessment as our students compete with themselves. For us it’s each child’s uniqueness that becomes the guiding light in their individual journey. Students are encouraged to try and be better than their previous selves. Individual records are maintained. Our students are made to reflect after each assessment over what they did right, where did they falter, assess their own areas of strength and that of improvement and commit to outperform themselves.

 We don’t give up and believe it’s our duty as mentors not to cease believing and strive by giving second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh………chances. This is because we accept the way our students are, appreciate differences, strive and believe in possibilities that can strike at any time in our lives.  School is for all children and mistakes are part of the learning process, not just for academics, but also for behavior. Rather than striking them out, we teach them the skills they need to overcome their deficiencies.

At Mount Olympus we never say “You Failed” – rather “You Haven’t Done It Yet”, We encourage hope by letting students know that, no matter what they do, they can still do better. We try and support our students with extra classes, remedial classes, special classes when it comes to preparing them for any competition both scholastic & co scholastic. Our students have shown remarkable improvement and achievement in National Olympiads and have made a mark for themselves in the arena of sports at national level.

We believe in providing our students with increased opportunities to learn and engage them in avenues of self-growth like – reading, writing, dancing, speaking, sports, drama etc.

We are sure that this approach based on belief in individual potential to will help us to initiate change in many lines.  As parents and mentors we can believe in our children and unleash their hidden potential.
