“You did well!”, “Excellent Work”, “I am proud of you, my child”; these words of appreciation are integral to a child`s cognitive development. Praise nurtures your

child’s confidence and self-belief. Children love to be told how wonderful they are and what their parents, elders, mentors and peers think of them.

According to Michelle Macias, MD, an associate professor of pediatrics at the Medical University of South Carolina, in Charleston, “Children consider praise- a reward in itself, and praise is a way to help them learn which kind of behaviours are acceptable.”

Good CBSE schools keep appreciation as a key tool for motivation for learners. It is essential for each learner at MOS to receive appreciation from the entire team of school leaders. Making eye contact while talking to the listener accounts for truth in the words of the speaker. Therefore, being a parent, always while praising them for their slightest effort, the parent must make a good eye contact as the child`s eyes will convey the outcome of their communication.

Choose Words Wisely- When it comes to praise, it’s important to use language that is appropriate for your child’s developmental stage. As your children get older, use words that reflect their experience and show understanding and empathy.

Pay Attention to Little Things- Children thrive on attention as it makes them feel nurtured. Being a parent, always note the smallest effort made by your child and unfailing praise them for it.
